Meridian Avenue Residence is a contemporary two-story home located in Miami Beach, Florida. The design takes a confident architectural position by combining raw and refined materials in a single composition, pairing the structural honesty of exposed concrete with the warmth of wood slat facade accents. The result is a residence that feels grounded and substantial without sacrificing the light, openness, and indoor-outdoor flow expected of contemporary South Florida design.
The massing is composed of clean horizontal volumes layered against a strong vertical core, creating depth and shadow across the facade. Exposed concrete carries weight and permanence, while the wood slat accents introduce rhythm, texture, and a tactile counterpoint that softens the overall composition. Floor-to-ceiling glazing runs across the primary elevations, dissolving the boundary between interior and exterior and admitting daylight deep into the open-plan core.
The most distinctive interior architectural move is the double-height living and dining area, a single soaring volume that serves as the spatial heart of the home. The double-height ceiling creates a sense of openness and generosity rare in two-story residences and gives the main level a true architectural presence rather than a typical compressed living plan. A rooftop garden crowns the residence, transforming the top of the home into an active outdoor program rather than unused mechanical space. The design philosophy prioritizes the daily experience of moving through the home, with seamless transitions between interior, pool deck, covered outdoor kitchen, and rooftop. The result is a luxury modern residence that feels architecturally ambitious without losing the warmth and livability required of a private home.

Atelier International led the complete architectural design process for Meridian Avenue Residence, from initial concept through permit-ready documentation. Services included site analysis, schematic design, design development, 3D visualization, and full construction documentation. The team coordinated structural and MEP consultants, integrated the rooftop garden program into the architectural and structural design, and handled permit submission through the City of Miami Beach. Zoning compliance covered setback verification, lot coverage analysis, and height restriction review. Our scope took the project from vision to fully resolved, code-compliant design ready for construction.
