The Hill Residence is a sprawling hillside estate designed for an elevated tropical site in St. Lucia. The project takes a pavilion-based architectural approach rather than concentrating the program into a single building, distributing the residence across multiple interconnected structures that step across the hillside. This strategy transforms the home from a single architectural object into a true estate composition, where the relationships between the buildings are as important as the buildings themselves.
The pavilion strategy serves both the architecture and the way the home actually lives. Each pavilion holds a distinct program and offers a different orientation, view, and relationship to the surrounding landscape. The spaces between the pavilions become outdoor rooms in their own right, supporting circulation, gathering, and the kind of layered indoor-outdoor living that tropical residential architecture rewards. The pavilions are connected through covered walkways, terraces, and shared landscape moves, creating a unified estate rather than a collection of disconnected buildings. The architectural language stays consistent across the structures, with restrained modern detailing, generous overhangs, and material choices selected to age gracefully in the tropical climate.
The estate's amenity program is integrated into the architecture rather than treated as separate landscape elements. The curved mosaic infinity pool is composed as a sculptural anchor for the outdoor composition, its mosaic surface introducing color and tactile detail into the design while the curved geometry softens the rectilinear pavilions. The private clay tennis court adds a true recreational program to the estate, supporting the kind of resort-quality lifestyle that defines successful Caribbean residential architecture. The design philosophy treats the entire hillside as a single composed environment where buildings, water, sport, and landscape combine into one coherent estate experience. The result is a luxury hillside residence built for elevated tropical living across multiple distinct programs and pavilions.

Atelier International led the full architectural design process for The Hill Residence, from initial concept through permit-ready documentation. Services included site analysis, master planning across multiple pavilion structures, schematic design, design development, 3D visualization, and complete construction documentation. The team coordinated structural and MEP consultants, integrated pool, tennis court, and outdoor amenity programming into the architectural design, and handled local permit submission and zoning approvals specific to St. Lucia's hillside development requirements. Our scope advanced the project from vision to fully resolved, code-compliant design ready for construction across the entire estate.
