3D rendering of hillside residential villa with rooftop infinity pool and sea views in St. Lucia

About the Project

About the Project

Esper's Residence is a luxury oceanfront villa designed for a hillside site in St. Lucia, positioned to take full advantage of panoramic sea views and the dramatic topography of the Caribbean coast. The project takes a pavilion-based architectural approach, distributing the residence across multiple pitched-roof structures rather than concentrating the program into a single monolithic building. This strategy gives the villa a sense of scale that reads as estate rather than house, while creating the layered architectural composition that hillside sites reward.
The pitched roof vocabulary is deliberate. Where contemporary Caribbean residential architecture often defaults to flat-roofed modernism, Esper's Residence draws from regional building traditions where pitched roofs respond to climate, drainage, and visual hierarchy in ways that flat geometries cannot. Each pavilion's pitched roof creates interior volume and ceiling drama while reinforcing the home's connection to traditional Caribbean architectural language. The pavilions are connected through covered outdoor living areas that double as circulation and as inhabitable rooms in their own right, blurring the line between interior, threshold, and landscape.
The estate sits on the hillside through a combination of architectural and landscape moves rather than fighting the topography. Natural stone retaining walls anchor the residence to the slope, providing the structural foundation the site demands while introducing tactile material warmth and a sense of permanence. Tropical landscaping throughout knits the architecture into its environment, softening the building's geometry and reinforcing the residence's sense of place. The infinity pool serves as the architectural anchor of the outdoor program, its sun deck oriented to capture the full sweep of the Caribbean horizon. The design philosophy treats the hillside, the architecture, the landscape, and the sea as a single integrated composition. The result is a luxury oceanfront villa built for the way Caribbean hillside living actually unfolds, distributed across multiple pavilions that each engage the landscape, the climate, and the sea on their own terms.

Services Provided

Services Provided

Atelier International led the full architectural design process for Esper's Residence, from initial concept through permit-ready documentation. Services included site analysis, master planning across multiple pavilion structures, schematic design, design development, detailed 3D renderings and visualizations, and complete construction documentation. The team coordinated structural and MEP consultants with attention to the engineering demands of hillside construction, integrated retaining wall systems with the architectural design, and handled local permit submission and zoning approvals specific to St. Lucia's coastal and hillside development requirements. Our scope advanced the project from vision to fully resolved, code-compliant design ready for construction.
