About the Project
Windjammer Landing Resort villa expansion is a beachfront hospitality project designed for one of St. Lucia's most established luxury resort destinations. The work involved adding new villa accommodations to an existing hillside resort property, a design challenge that required careful architectural integration with a built environment already defined by its own visual identity and material vocabulary. The project's success depended not on architectural distinction but on architectural continuity, ensuring that the new villas read as a natural extension of the resort rather than a contemporary intervention layered onto a Caribbean institution.
The architectural language honors the established Mediterranean-Caribbean vernacular that defines Windjammer Landing's identity. Terracotta tile roofs and white stucco facades carry the visual continuity that makes the resort instantly recognizable, while restrained detailing and proportional discipline ensure that the new villas integrate seamlessly with the existing architectural fabric. The material choices are not stylistic decisions, they are continuity decisions, selected to ensure that the expansion strengthens the resort's identity rather than fragments it.
The villa program is organized around the indoor-outdoor lifestyle that defines successful Caribbean hospitality. Multi-level guest units distribute the program across stacked floors, allowing each villa to capture different views, different elevations, and different relationships to the surrounding landscape. Private terraces extend from each level, doubling the usable area of every unit and providing the deep outdoor living space that premium tropical travel demands. Infinity-edge plunge pools serve as the architectural anchor of each villa's outdoor program, creating private water amenities that frame the relationship to the bay beyond and give every guest direct access to a sculptural pool experience without leaving their unit. The villas connect directly to the resort's private beach and bay, ensuring that the broader resort amenities remain immediately accessible. The design philosophy treats the expansion as an act of architectural stewardship as much as an act of new construction, building on the resort's existing identity rather than competing with it. The result is a beachfront villa expansion that strengthens one of St. Lucia's most recognized luxury hospitality properties, anchored by architecture that respects the resort's heritage while delivering the contemporary amenity expectations of premium Caribbean travel.

Services Provided
Atelier International led the architectural design process for the Windjammer Landing villa expansion, from initial concept through construction documentation. Services included site analysis, integration studies with the existing resort architecture, schematic design, design development, and complete construction documentation. The team coordinated structural and MEP consultants with attention to the engineering demands of hillside construction adjacent to existing built infrastructure, integrated plunge pool systems with each villa's architectural composition, and handled permit submission specific to the resort's existing development framework. Our scope advanced the project from vision to fully resolved, code-compliant design ready for construction within an active operating resort environment.
